Jamaica’s Powerful new voice Lila IKÉ on tour

With just four singles under her belt, Lila Iké is already on the brink of stardom. As seen on her latest single “Where I’m Coming From,” the 25-year-old Jamaican songbird has an edge and ease in her voice that creates an immediate gravitational pull with her listener, fusing contemporary reggae with elements of soul, hip hop and dancehall. Currently, she is making reggae festival-goers’ heads turn by the thousands on her first solo European tour and has got media asking “who is that girl?” This week, Lila Iké also announces new U.S. tour dates.

The singer has been tearing up stages across the globe over the last two months, whether she is alongside Protoje on his sets at Reggae Sumfest (Montego Bay, Jamaica) and BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn! (NYC, USA) or holding her own on Europe’s most-coveted reggae festivals, including Sfinks Festival (Antwerp, Belgium), Hill Vibes Reggae Festival (Telfs, Austria), Reggae in Wulf (Friedberg, Germany), Free & Easy Festival (Munich, Germany) and Reggae Jam Festival (Bersenbruck, Germany). The shining star will conclude her European portion of the tour on August 16th at the world’s largest reggae festival, Rototom Sunsplash, which attracts over a quarter million annually in Benicassim, Spain. Then in late August, she will open for Protoje in select U.S. cities (Atlanta, San Diego & Santa Cruz) before she makes her final stop for the summer on Sept 1 in Los Angeles, CA. Meet Lila Iké (pronounced Lee-lah Eye-kay)

The straight-shooting, free-spirited, yet easy-going singer who belts soulful tunes with a velvety smooth voice is managed by In.Digg.Nation Collective, company of reggae star Protoje. Having appeared as a featured guest on tracks by Protoje (“Flight Plans”), Royal Blu (“Believe”) and Koro Fyah (“Got it For You,” “Raggamuffin”) and on mixtapes by Addis Pablo & Equiknoxx Music and Yaadcore, she is now building her own catalog of impressive solo material. In 2017, she dropped her debut single “Biggest Fan,” which was a tribute to her mother, who despite initially disapproving of her daughter’s career choice ended up becoming her “biggest fan.” Her next single “Gotti Gotti” likewise acknowledges the wisdom of elders, taking her generation’s predilection for greed to task on a vintage reggae riddim. Her third single “Second Chance” taps into a past love while revealing a sound that is fresh, new and all her own. The heavy drum and bass on “Second Chance” will be instantly familiar to long-time reggae fans, but Iké gives the rhythm a fresh coat. Iké also features on Protoje’s latest single “Not Another Word” along with Agent Sasco, released April 2019. The single has been featured on Spotify playlists ‘Dancehall Queen’ and ‘Dancehall Official’ as well as on iTunes Reggae A-List, premiering at number 2. Iké’s fourth and latest single “Where I’m Coming From” has her voice sitting on an ultra-modern reggae trap beat as she describes how she’s navigating and championing her way in the music industry. EBRO Darden recently selected the track as his daily Discovered feature on his Apple Music Beats1 show.
