MIRF returns with its 14th edition for Montreal’s 375th with reggae’s hottest performers

Montreal, April 26, 2017 – On August 18, 19 and 20, the Montreal International Reggae Festival (MIRF) will present its 14th edition at the Old Port of Montreal, maintaining its theme United Against Violence. This year promises yet again the highest calibre of Jamaican and West Indian talent, spanning the cultural genres of Roots, Dancehall, Lover’s Rock and even Comedy and Gospel. The MIRF is dubbed as one of the best reggae festivals around the world and remains Canada’s largest.

Announcing a first wave of acts from all genres for MIRF’s 14th edition:

The legendary Roots powerhouse Inner Circle, created in 1968 and touring stronger than ever, since their 2015 worldwide hit Tenement Yard (News Carrying Dread) featuring Chronixx!

In the Dancehall category, one of its biggest superstars, Konshens will return for his second appearance at MIRF with all his current hits, such as Bruk Off Yuh Back and Gal Dem Sugar. Rising stars Charly Black, he popular sound system DJ turned crossover singing sensation who has just hit the one million hits mark on Spotify and Pressure, Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands newest conscious roots superstars will proudly represent their new generation of artists.

Popular and soulful singer Etana, visiting us for the second time since the release of her acclaimed I Rise album (VP Records, 2014) and the influential reggae singer Tanya Stephens, always as popular since her beginnings in the late 90s are also signed for this year’s edition.

As far as new features this year, you can expect a very special house-raising Gospel segment starring Sanchez and Lieutenant Stitchie and also a hilarious set by West Indian comedian Majah Hype!
