On top of her game for the past 20 years, the “Queen of Dancehall” has paved the way for a whole new generation of Jamaican female singers. Her last MIRF performance dates back to 2010, but her stage presence and outstanding live performances are always as memorable!

Back by popular and insistant demand, the sweet-voiced singer will be back at the Old Port for another incredible performance, including all his greatest hits from the mid 80’s to today’s!

Flashback on the 2014 MIRF edition

If the 2014 edition of the MIRF did not break any assistance records because of the gloomy weather, the artistic caliber of last year’s line-up was truly exceptional!

On Friday, Maxi Priest gave a totally inspired performance which, for a good amount of the spectators present was the highlight of the Festival! As his opening act, Etana proved why she is considered as one of the best female singers of her generation.

On the Saturday night, traditionally Dancehall-oriented, the Montreal massive had a chance to appreciate three of its rising stars: the young QQ, Kiprich and Demarco. Alison Hinds, the Soca Queen, delivered a high-energy performance worthy of her royal title, and Sean Paul had the pleasure of closing the night with all his greatest hits, backed by his fabulous dancers.

The MIRF‘s Sunday line-up was an incredible Who’s who of reggae, past and present. Dancehall’s current idol, I-Octanecharmed the audience from his first second on stage and made way for the greatest reggae songstress, Madam Marcia Griffiths. The Festival organizers took the opportunity to present her with a plaque to commemorate her 50 years career in the music industry!

Then, as a Rasta priest, Luciano blessed the assembly of this 11th edition with a powerful, energetic and mystical performance to close the Festival in a righteous way.

On a sadder note, you shall recall that the MIRF had confirmed the presence of the legendary singer Percy Sledge for last-year’s line-up. Unfortunately, a major illness had forced him to cancel, just a few weeks before August. The whole MIRF team wishes to offer their condolences to the family and friends of this timeless artist, who passed away on April 14, 2015.
