The Emperor Shabba Ranks confirmed for Reggae Sumfest 2020

Mr Loverman, the dancehall star who lit up the Jamaica music scene in the 1990s churning out hits such as “Twice My Age”, “Ting-A-Ling”, “Trailer Load A Girls”, “Wicked Inna Bed”; The first reggae artiste to bring home a Grammy, the Emperor, Shabba Ranks, has been confirmed to perform at Reggae Sumfest on Saturday 18 July 2020.

“We were determined to bring Shabba back to the Sumfest stage and worked extremely hard to get him signed. We are proud and feel a special sense of achievement to have been able to provide the opportunity for our Jamaican and international reggae fans to enjoy, live, the stylings of one of the icons of the Jamaican music industry”, said Joe Bogdanovich, the Sumfest boss. “I am looking forward to what I am certain will be a brilliant performance. Our aim, as the promoters of the Reggae Sumfest brand, is to celebrate the best of Jamaica’s music and culture”, he added.

Shabba Ranks’ appearance will be his third performance on the Sumfest stage. His first was in 1994, the second year of the festival and the second was in 2012. Fans lined the roads to welcome him home and he delivered a blistering performance, which showed vintage Shabba at his best. For over one hour he went through his mega hits keeping the crowd on their feet. The reunion was both enjoyable and emotional.
