Kranium Gets First Gold Certified Song With “Nobody Has To Know”

Kranium has secured his first gold-certified song with “Nobody Has To Know,” a truly remarkable and well-deserved feat!

Kranium, whose real name is Kemar Donaldson, hails from Somerton in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He is known for his silky-smooth and captivating voice that entrances women everywhere. Even while singing about raw, vulgar things, he manages to do so in a way that it gets overlooked, and you completely focus on the vibe and energy of the song. The artiste is exceptionally talented, and his music stretches across a variety of genres. Kranium and his team, Frequent Flyers, also took the crown at Red Bull Music Culture Clash, which was held in Atlanta back in 2018, showcasing how powerful his musical abilities are.

Now he can boast that his 2015 hit song “Nobody Has to Know,” which features rapper Ty Dolla Sign has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 500,000. The certification was announced on September 27, and Kranium took to both his Twitter and Instagram accounts to share his excitement. He tweeted, “Thanks to all the cheaters that made this record go GOLD in the USA #NobodyHasToKnow @LmrPro @tydollasign #JamaicaQueensNY#FromMobayToNYC #Dancehall.” The song was a huge hit when it came out, and despite your relationship status, you couldn’t help but sing to it word for word. At the time of its release, it became the most popular song on the radio, at parties and events. It also saw the female counter version being created by dancehall singer Ishawna titled “Everybody Ago Know.”

The success of “Nobody Has to Know” gained Kranium international recognition and led to several record labels engaging in a bidding war for the singer. He eventually signed with Atlantic Records and released his debut album, Rumors, in October 2015. It peaked at number six on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. Speaking on the success of the song he posted this message on Instagram, “Mama I have a GOLD record !!!!!!!!! Thank you @lmrpro for opening the studio door that day for me . We made history from NEW YORK DOING DANCEHALL. Thanks to the team @peewee21 @sugga_teamkranium @outdehlife @successready @its_briannanicole @tydollasign and everyone DJS AND FANS. New single INCHARGE OUT OCTOBER 11.”

Lamar Michael Reynolds produced the song six years ago in the basement of his New York apartment. It went on to top several reggae charts and peaked at number 44 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart four years ago. The track also peaked at number two on Billboard’s Reggae Digital Song Sales Chart. During an interview with the Jamaica Observer, the producer had this to say about the song’s gold certification, “Words cannot describe how I am feeling. I am happy for the achievement and it’s more for the Jamaican culture than even for us. It’s a dancehall record in patois that has sold well in the US market.”

Speaking on the creation process of the hit, he added, “The energy surrounding the creation was pure. It was just me and Kranium, no ego nor external factors or people. Everything was created from scratch; lyrics, beat and all. Midway through, while playing it on repeat, we knew it would make an impact and it eventually skyrocketed his career and got him a record deal.”

Kranium has been getting a huge outpouring of support from fans and other artistes such as Agent Sasco, Macka Diamond, and Machel Montano. Congratulations to Kranium on this incredible achievement!
