AIDONIA FRSH DROPS IN NEW YORK

4th Genna /JOP Boss
@aidonia4thgenna was LIVE in Brooklyn Under the K Bridge this past weekend for ‘Sandz’. The first time in the U.S. in five years and the first leg of the DJ’s FRSH DROP TOURAidonia had the venue sold out a week before the event and the 10,000 strong audience was wild! Not one ‘Boring Gyal” was in the heavily secured venue as they bounced for “Frsh drop”.

Sandz Music Festival’s Andrew Ellis says – “Aidonia was phenomenal and the show was a huge success. We are happy Sandz was the platform that returned Aidonia to the U.S. stage – it’s our responsibility to push the culture out to the market.”  Sandz is of course a touring event, originating in Jamaica. The next show is July 15th in Canada, followed up on August 1st back home in Jamaica.

There is a freedom language in dancehall expression as females take it to the limit, pulling out male patrons in droves. We caught up with some of these male patrons, excited by the female style elements in the venues- “there ain’t no judgement, we love when the ladies appear bare as you dare and the vibe is right in the parties – that’s why we roll out.” Jamaicans in the diaspora and the multitude of Reggae Dancehall lovers are yearning even as satisfaction is given with shows like Sandz, for more Dancehall! and more Reggae in more venues. Promoters are scrambling to provide it. The upcoming Barclay’s event has –Shabba, Barrington levy, Cobra, Yellow Man, Patra et al for REGGAELOVEFEST, this Friday June 16th, 2023.
